Chanel’s website AI chat is optional. This page explains how it processes questions, along with the separate approximate pageview counts used to understand how people find SWMIS.

Chanel website chat.

You choose when to start

Select “Start chatting with Chanel” to agree to sending questions and recent replies to OpenAI through SWMIS for AI-generated answers about public SWMIS product, plan, and setup information. Before you start, no chat text is sent and no conversation or question form is shown. Starting alone does not send a greeting or request an AI reply. This chat cannot access your private account or desktop program. AI answers can be wrong. Do not enter passwords, activation codes, payment details, private songs, or other personal data.

What an AI request sends

After you start chat and send a question, this page sends up to 400 question characters, a random page-only session ID, and up to six recent chat messages (at most 2,400 characters in total) to the SWMIS visitor-chat service. The service sends the question and recent context to OpenAI to generate a reply. It does not use your account cookies, account records, private catalog, or desktop conversations. Questions are sent only when you submit them or select a suggested question; starting chat never submits text entered beforehand.

Page-only conversation

The chat keeps its conversation in this page’s memory, not in cookies, browser storage, or your account. “End chat & clear,” reloading, or leaving the page clears that conversation and requires you to start chat again. Ending chat stops any pending request and clears its recent context. Stopping a request or clearing the page cannot recall information already processed by SWMIS or OpenAI. Closing the chat panel alone does not clear it.

Service and provider processing

The SWMIS visitor-chat service does not store chat transcripts or raw IP addresses. For abuse prevention and budget controls, it keeps daily hashed-IP and hashed-session request counts. These expire after 48 hours and are removed on the next eligible request. Monthly aggregate usage and cost totals are retained for budget controls. A daily hash is a pseudonymous anti-abuse identifier, not a promise of anonymity. The hosting service may separately process ordinary request metadata to run and secure the website.

OpenAI processes opted-in chat content under its API data policies. Provider retention or safety monitoring may apply; page-only history does not mean zero provider retention. Read OpenAI’s API data controls. If AI is unavailable, rate-limited, out of its monthly allowance, or times out, the chat offers prepared information labeled “SWMIS help · Prepared fallback,” not a reply generated by Chanel. Privacy and scope notices are labeled “SWMIS safety.”

Separate pageview counts.

What we keep

Daily pageview totals in UTC, the home or plans page category, and fixed referral categories such as Reddit, search, social, and direct or unknown. We recognize only Reddit source tags, a few fixed medium tags, and the campaign name swmis_launch. Arbitrary query values are discarded. We keep roughly 90 days of daily totals. Older days are removed the next time an eligible pageview is recorded.

What the analytics does not store

No visitor IDs, IP addresses, names, emails, device fingerprints, raw browser identifiers, or full page and referring URLs. We create no analytics cookies and send no analytics to a third-party measurement provider. The hosting service may separately process ordinary request metadata to run and secure the website.

How to opt out

We respect Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. You can also turn off counting below. That choice is saved only in this browser, without an identifier. Private browsing and clearing browser storage can reset it.

JavaScript is required to change the browser preference. Without JavaScript, pageviews are not counted.

What the totals mean

Pageviews are not unique people. Reloads can count again. Common bots, testing, and signed-in administrators are excluded where detectable, but filtering is imperfect. Privacy choices, missing referrers, blockers, and traffic limits can reduce counts. Reddit referrals do not prove an ad click; paid traffic is labeled only when its link carries an explicit paid Reddit tag.
